Predicting the release date of a future iPhone is much easier because
Apple usually follows a pattern. However, predicting the majority of the features is difficult until details start to emerge.
We can thus estimate the expected release dates of the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, even though there haven't been any official leaks of the phones' dates yet.
New iPhone models are often announced by Apple in September; the iPhone 15 series, for instance, was launched on September 12, 2023.
More precisely, the corporation like to announce on Tuesdays and usually does so around the first or second week of September. Therefore, September 3 or September 10 this year seem to be the most plausible dates for the announcement.
September 4 and September 11 are other dates for announcements, though, as Apple occasionally has its events on Wednesdays.
Naturally, there's always a chance that Apple may defy expectations this year. It has done so in the past, as seen by the iPhone 12 series, which was revealed in October of the year it was released.
That seemed improbable, though, given that the iPhone 16's manufacture was supposedly proceeding according to plan as of May at the latest, so there wouldn't be a clear explanation for a delay. The dates listed above are thus our best estimates as of right now, with September 3 or 10 being the most likely of all.
Pre-orders for Apple's next phones usually go live on Friday of the week that they are revealed. Pre-orders will thus most likely start in September if the firm unveils the iPhone 16 range on September 3 or 4.
Pre-orders, however, should begin on September 13 if the phones are revealed on September 10 or 11.
However, these forecasts presuppose that our estimates of the announcement date are accurate. if Apple decides to reveal the iPhone 16 on a different day.

The only possible explanation for why they might not be is if Apple experiences manufacturing problems, as was the case with the iPhone 12 series, when the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the iPhone 12 mini shipped over a month after the other models.
As of right now, there have been no reports of production problems with the iPhone 16 series, thus we don't currently expect any model delays.
